Withdrawal methods
- Cash at retail — Bally’s Twin River or Tiverton cage. Same day, any amount up to cage limits. Photo ID required.
- Play+ prepaid card — instant transfer to your Play+ balance, then spendable anywhere Mastercard is accepted or withdrawable at ATMs.
- PayPal — same day to 24 hours.
- ACH bank transfer — 3–5 business days to your linked bank account.
Withdrawals must go to a method previously used to deposit (anti-money-laundering rule). If you deposited with a debit card, your first withdrawal can typically go to ACH or Play+ — not back to the card.
Processing timeline
Two stages: internal review (Sportsbook RI verifies the withdrawal) + transit time (the payment provider settles).
- Under $1,000: internal review usually instant, transit per method
- $1,000–$10,000: review typically within 24 hours, sometimes within minutes
- Over $10,000: review can take 24–72 hours, KYC re-verification may be required
W-2G — the tax form
Federal law requires sportsbooks to issue a W-2G when a single wager pays $600 or more and is at odds of 300:1 or greater. This applies to long-shot futures and big parlays — not standard moneyline or spread wins. When you win $5,000+ on a single ticket at 300:1+, 24% federal withholding is automatic.
Sportsbook RI sends W-2Gs digitally in late January for the prior tax year. See personal taxes for full bettor-side tax obligations.
Why withdrawals get held
Common reasons your withdrawal might be paused:
- KYC re-verification needed. Identity check expired or your address changed. Upload fresh ID.
- Deposit not fully cleared. If you ACH-deposited within 72 hours, withdrawal of those funds may be held until clearance.
- Responsible gaming flag. Pattern detection. Sportsbook RI may ask you to confirm responsible gaming controls.
- Withdrawal method mismatch. Trying to withdraw to a method you haven’t deposited from.
- Large win. Additional review on five-figure-plus wins.
If your withdrawal is held more than 7 business days without explanation, contact support and escalate to the Rhode Island Lottery as the regulator.
Fees
Sportsbook RI charges no withdrawal fees. PayPal and Play+ don’t add fees for receiving. ACH is free. The only potential cost is if you use Play+ at an out-of-network ATM, where ATM fees apply.
Tax record-keeping
Whether or not you receive a W-2G, you’re legally required to report gambling winnings on your federal and RI state tax returns. Keep records of:
- Total stakes per session
- Total winnings (gross, not net)
- Any W-2Gs issued
- Sessions with significant wins/losses
Sportsbook RI’s app has a "transaction history" export under Account → Activity. Save it monthly.
