What’s available live
Sportsbook RI’s live market menu mirrors the pre-game menu but updates continuously:
- Live moneyline, spread, totals
- Next-play markets (next score, next drive result, next at-bat outcome)
- Quarter / period / half markets
- Live player props (limited menu vs pre-game)
- Race-to-X-points markets in basketball
- Cash-out on existing tickets
Latency — the big disclaimer
Live odds run about 5–15 seconds behind the live broadcast in most cases, and longer if you’re watching on streaming. The book also pulls feeds from official data providers, so they’re often closer to the action than you are. Don’t try to beat the line by reacting to plays you just saw on TV — by the time you tap "place bet," the market has either moved or been suspended.
Market suspensions
Sportsbook RI suspends live markets during key moments:
- Between plays in football
- During free throws and timeouts in basketball
- When a goal is scored in hockey or soccer
- At pitch / at-bat boundaries in baseball
Suspensions usually last 5–30 seconds while odds recalculate.
Cash-out
Most live tickets and many pre-game tickets can be cashed out before the event ends, at a price set by Sportsbook RI. Cash-outs almost always pay less than the true implied value — typically 5–15% less. It’s a convenience product, not a winning strategy. The exception: hedging a big futures ticket via cash-out can sometimes beat hedging with a fresh bet, since you avoid taking on vig twice.
When live betting actually beats pre-game
- Overreaction to early scoring. NBA totals often overcorrect after a hot first quarter. A 35-point opening quarter on a 220 total often pushes the live total to 230 — and if you read the pace as unsustainable, the under at 230 is value.
- Injuries during the game. A star player goes down and the market takes 30–60 seconds to fully reprice. If you have a quick eye on injury reports, you can sometimes beat the move.
- Weather changes in MLB/NFL. Wind picks up at Fenway, rain starts in Foxborough — totals adjust, but not instantly.
What to avoid
Three habits that kill live betting bankrolls:
- Chasing. You lose pre-game on Team A, so you bet Team A live to "get it back." This is how live betting empties accounts.
- Tapping plays you just saw. Latency means the book is ahead of you.
- Big stakes on micro markets. "Next play touchdown" prices are wide and the limits are low for a reason.
